This film documents how the seasons rolled through my studio as an exciting idea of a spinning loom became a real form.

2022 - 2024

Thank you to the artistic director Roshanak Zangeneh, editor Nour Emad and sound engineer Moustafa Shaaban Abdelhamed.

By late 2024, the loom was ready to be taken to ARD Art Institution, where I would weave its final woollen millimetres during the opening days of my exhibition, Lis - a - ma hel sitch / لسّه متحلش / Yet not finished .

A week after the exhibition opened the loom was completed when I opened it out to its full length during an evening of conversation between curator Farida Youssef, artist rana elnemr, myself and the audience. 

The evening before the conversation, Rana suggested to Farida and I that we send her any short sections of text - WhatsApp conversations, notes after studio visits, working thoughts - that we felt might be relevant. She rose early the next morning to combine what we gave her with her own reflections to make an adventurous performative script. We rarely read our own words, instead speaking those of the other two participants.
